Weather Lens

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 12, 2026

This policy describes how Weather Lens handles data. Weather Lens is designed as a local, weather-focused app: it does not require a Weather Lens account, does not sell personal data, does not show ads, and does not use data for tracking across other companies' apps or websites.

Data Used to Provide Weather

Weather Lens uses your selected location to show weather, air quality, forecasts, widgets, and background refreshes.

Depending on the feature and region, location data may be sent to:

  • Apple Weather / WeatherKit for weather forecasts.
  • AirNow for air quality in supported United States and Mexico regions.
  • Environment and Climate Change Canada / MSC GeoMet for air quality in supported Canadian regions.

Location data is used for app functionality. Weather Lens does not use location for advertising or tracking.

Data Stored on Your Device

Weather Lens stores some data locally so the app and widgets can work quickly and continue showing recent weather when the network is unavailable. This may include:

  • Saved locations and selected location preferences.
  • Recent weather cache data, including coordinates for the cached forecast.
  • Current-location refresh snapshots used to keep forecasts and widgets fresh.
  • Settings such as units, launch view, reduced motion, analytics preference, and Supporter Pack cosmetics.

Widget data is shared locally with the Weather Lens widget extension through the app group container. This data stays on your device unless it is separately sent to a weather, air-quality, analytics, or feedback provider as described in this policy.

Analytics

Weather Lens uses TelemetryDeck for anonymized usage and reliability analytics. Analytics helps understand whether core features are working, which forecast surfaces are used, and where reliability issues occur.

Analytics events may include:

  • App and feature interaction events, such as viewed forecast sections or changed settings.
  • Weather load status, cache state, failure reason, and load duration.
  • General device and app context provided by the TelemetryDeck SDK, such as app version, operating system version, device type, locale, and anonymized installation identifiers.
  • Supporter Pack purchase or restore completion events.

Analytics events do not include precise location, saved place names, raw coordinates, feedback notes, names, email addresses, or advertising identifiers from Weather Lens. You can turn analytics off in Settings.

TelemetryDeck anonymizes user identifiers before sending analytics data. Weather Lens does not use TelemetryDeck for advertising or tracking.

Feedback

If you open the feedback form from Settings, Weather Lens opens a Tally form. To help diagnose feedback, Weather Lens adds the following metadata to the form URL:

  • App version.
  • Device model.
  • iOS version.
  • The app area you opened feedback from.
  • A random Weather Lens feedback ID stored on your device.

The feedback ID helps connect related feedback from the same app installation. It is not used for advertising or tracking. Any information you type into the Tally form is submitted to Tally and may be reviewed for customer support, bug reports, and product feedback.

Purchases

Weather Lens may offer a Supporter Pack through Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple processes payment information. Weather Lens does not receive your payment card number or other payment credentials.

Weather Lens stores whether the Supporter Pack is active so it can unlock included app features. If analytics is enabled, Weather Lens may send an anonymized event when a Supporter Pack purchase or restore completes.

Data Not Collected by Weather Lens

Weather Lens does not collect:

  • Contacts.
  • Health or fitness data.
  • Photos, videos, or audio recordings.
  • Browsing history.
  • Advertising data.
  • Payment card numbers or payment credentials.

Privacy Choices

You can:

  • Disable analytics in Weather Lens Settings.
  • Clear cached weather data in Weather Lens Settings.
  • Remove saved locations in the location picker.
  • Change or revoke location permission in iOS Settings.
  • Avoid the external feedback form if you do not want to send feedback metadata or form content to Tally.

Children

Weather Lens is not designed to collect personal information from children. It does not include accounts, ads, social features, or user profiling.

Changes

This policy may be updated as Weather Lens changes. If data practices materially change, the policy and App Store privacy information should be updated before release.
